The first school was built on the lot beside George Pollock's Auto Repair, and the first schoolmaster was John Thompson, who came over on the "Cornelius". Over the years many schools were built, and each had its own district. There were fourteen schools with names such as the "Swamp School" (technically the Manners Sutton School), the Village School, Blissfield, Smithfield, etc.

Harvey Elementary School- In January 1966, the Harvey Elementary School was opened to grades one through six. With the introduction of kindergarten in September 1991, it was necessary to bring in two mobiles to make enough room for the extra children. In recent years there have been changes made to the school and its grounds: new playground equipment was built, and renovations were made during the summer of 1991.
Some of the activities the children are involved in are the M.S. Read-a-thon, collecting pennies for the I.W.K. Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and many other fund-raising campaigns all for good causes.
Junior High School- The Junior High was built in 1960 and served grades seven to nine. In 1981, it ceased to function as a school as the new combined junior high and high school eliminated the need for it. It was converted into offices. It now serves as a base for the Southwest Development Corporation, Harvey Historical Association, Harvey Village Office, and Cadets. The School Board is now District 18, and is based in Fredericton.
Harvey High School- In 1947 the opening of the first regional high school took place in Harvey. Students who had previously gone to McAdam were now able to finish school in Harvey. It cost approximately $100 000.00 to build this school. In 1980, construction of a new high school started. The former high school was no longer sufficient and was torn down. In 1981 the new high school was officially opened and celebrated its tenth birthday in 1991. The graduating classes have increased over the years, from the size of four graduates in 1948, to the largest graduating class of 52 graduating in 1994.
The high school has many organizations and groups to accommodate the different interests of students. There is also a variety of courses offered to students. For students interested in taking business courses, they are able to take a bus to McAdam for the courses they need. For students interested in taking practical courses at Harvey High, they are able to come from McAdam for courses they require. Harvey High has an excellent sports program and has excelled in almost all sports, capturing many provincial titles. A new hardwood floor has just been installed, adding to the beautiful decor of the school.
